High-level action plan:

=========================

  1. Apply USPatch 8576725 to your Release 12 system. This patch includes updates to NLS Installation and admerge performance enhancements
  1. From Oracle Applications Manager, go to License Manager and activate new language
  1. From AD Administration, run Maintain Multi-lingual Tables (AD Administration Main Menu > Maintain Applications Database Entities Menu)
  2. Run the Translation Synchronization Patch utility (adgennls.pl).
  1. Upload Translation Synchronization file to SR support ( Refer document 252422.1, Requesting Translation Synchronization Patches)
  1. When you are notified that it is available, apply your Translation Synchronization Patch (TSP) for all languages you requested.
  1. Run the AD Administration utility to generate message files from the Generate Applications Files menu
  1. Restart the Apache Service. On the node that contains the Web server, restart the Apache service to enable the new languages on the login page
  1. Verify the task. Login to application and check the installed language.

=========================

Note: There may be temporary form failures during NLS patch application if the US code level is higher than the NLS patch level. These errors will be resolved when you run the Translation Synchronization Patch Utility to synchronize the NLS code level with the US level, or when you apply the latest NLS Release Update Pack to your system

Description:

  1. Check the supported character set before adding / installing new language. For supported character set, please refer to doc 393861.1

SQL> select * from v$nls_sparameters where PARAMETER like ‘%CHARACTERSET%’;

PARAMETER                                VALUE
—————————————- ———————
NLS_CHARACTERSET                         UTF8

According to note 393861.1:

=========================

Adding languages after the implementation is complete may require a change in character set, unless UTF8 or AL32UTF8 was chosen.
=========================

  1. Apply USPatch 8576725 to your Release 12 system. This patch includes updates to NLS Installation and Admerge performance enhancements

According to MOS note: Oracle Applications NLS Release Notes, Release 12.1 (Doc ID 788053.1):

Note: If your system is at Release 12.1.3 or R12.AD.B.delta.3 and above, then you do not need to apply this pre-requisite patch.

  1. From Oracle Applications Manager, go to License Manager and activate new language

Choose System Administrator

Click on “Oracle Application Manager”

Go to License Manager -> Click on Language

Check the language which you have to install:
(in my example, I will add “Canadian French” language)

Click submit and then OK

Run the following query to verify that language that you have added is showing as installed.

SQL > select language_code,NLS_LANGUAGE ,INSTALLED_FLAG from apps.FND_LANGUAGES LWHERE L.INSTALLED_FLAG IN (‘I’, ‘B’);

// should return something like this:

LANGUAGE_COD NLS_LANGUAGE                          INS

————                     —————————————-         —

US                              AMERICAN                                      B

FRC                            CANADIAN FRENCH                   I

  1. From AD Administration, run Maintain Multi-lingual Tables (AD Administration Main Menu > Maintain Applications Database Entities Menu)

  1. Run the Translation Synchronization Patch utility (adgennls.pl).

$ perl $AD_TOP/bin/adgennls.pl

Please enter the APPS User [APPS]: apps

Please enter the APPS password:

Manifest file generation is in progress…

Manifest generated in $APPL_TOP/admin/$TWO_TASK/out/adgennls.txt

IMPORTANT: READ THIS IF MANIFEST GENERATION FAILED:
=============================================================

You do not need to run the tool for each individual language.

Usually, it is not required to perform maintain snapshots, but if the manifest seems incomplete, you can perform maintain snapshot information as mentioned in section 2, doc 252422.1.

How to perform maintain snapshot information (optional – if manifest generating failed):

If you think your snapshots are not maintained, you can maintain the snapshot information using the AD Administration utility.

adadmin -> Maintain Applications Files menu -> Maintain snapshot information

After your snapshot information is maintained, you can generate a manifest again.

=============================================================

  1. Upload Translation Synchronization file to SR support ( Refer document 252422.1, Requesting Translation Synchronization Patches)

After you generate your manifest, you can go to https://updates.oracle.com/TransSync (use your My Oracle Support username and password) and upload the manifest file.

If you select the option to get latest translations, the patch will also update your outdated translations. You will be notified by email when your patch is available for download.

If your current translations are already up-to-date and in sync with your American English file versions, you will be notified by email that there is no need to apply Translation Synchronization patch.

>> Just for your information (our task is installing new language, not to update existing translations)

You should receive an email notification regarding the availability of your patch within 48 hours. In some situations, it may take longer to complete the full translation. The merged translation patch will be provided as an alternative. If you do not receive any email notification after 48 hours or you need to escalate the full translation patch, you may contact Oracle Support for assistance.

You can also check your request status at https://updates.oracle.com/TransSync.

IMPORTANT NOTE: when you submit the manifest file, you shouldn’t apply any patches to your application system until you not apply translation patch.
